3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cloves
sugar for coating
- In a mixing bowl add oil, dark brown sugar, egg and molasses. Mix well.
- Add flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
- Chill for 20-30 minutes.
- Roll into balls and roll in sugar. Put on a greased or lined cookie sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the cookies crack.
- Let cool on sheet for 1 minute.
- OR Roll out dough on a floured surface, cut out using cookie cutters and decorate with colored sugar. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
